Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti spoke about the merits due to Cristi Chivu after the 21st title in the history of the Nerazzurri club.
Inter closed the fight for the title in Serie A on Sunday evening, with a 2-0 win over Parma. And the club's vice-president, the legendary Javier Zanetti, spoke highly of his former teammate Cristi Chivu. The Argentinian believes that this scudetto is primarily due to the Romanian technician!
Javier Zanetti: “Cristi Chivu is our leader”
“I am incredibly happy for Cristianbecause he is a brother to our team. Ever since he coached Primavera, his great passion was evident. Winning is never easy and he did it with awareness and faith in his work. We are here to celebrate,” commented the former Nerazzurri defender.
Asked to whom he believes this 21st Scudetto in Nerazzurra history is primarily due, Zanetti had no hesitation: “I always say the group, but if I had to name one, I would say Chivu. It was not easy for the boys to recover from last season, but Chivu did a really great job.
Behind them were Napoli, Milan and the other teams. He is our leader. Lautaro? I am delighted with him. When we went to Argentina to transfer him, we did not expect such incredible qualities. He is a driving force, always present and feels part of our family. He tries to convey the values of the club. We hope he will continue to be an important figure in Inter's history.”
President Giuseppe Marotta: “The appointment of Cristi Chivu was courageous courage”
Giuseppe Marotta, the president of Inter, declared himself extremely pleased with what Cristi Chivu has achieved in his first season on the team's bench, saying after the title won tonight that “he must stay here for many years, he has huge qualities!“.
Marotta said of the appointment of the Romanian technician that it was “considered courage, as he had a treble on his CV as a player, captained Ajax at 21, won with Inter's Primavera team and coached Parma. We decided calmly, relying on his abilities. He may have lacked experience, but we supported him in this one gap“.
