Sudden temperature changes. ANM announcement about what the weather will be like in May

The general director of the National Meteorological Administration, Elena Mateescu, announced that the coming week will bring “warmer weather than usual”.

The head of ANM declared, on Sunday, on Digi24, that “on Wednesday we even expect values ​​of up to 28 degrees Celsius”.

“The week will begin with temperature values ​​increasing from one day to the next. If tomorrow we count on values ​​between 15 and 26 degrees Celsius, with 21-22 degrees in the Capital, from Tuesday, Wednesday, a difference between 18 and 28 degrees. Even in the Capital, the temperature will reach the threshold of a summer day, 25 degrees Celsius,” said Elena Mateescu.

She specified that “throughout the entire week the weather will remain within the same range of temperature values, characterizing a warmer than usual weather”.

“This does not mean that the precipitation will not be present, especially in the second part, practically, of the week, when in the western, northern and central part, but also in the mountains, it is possible to record cloudy periods, showers, accompanied by electrical discharges”, added Mateescu.

A start to May with “record minimum or maximum temperatures”

The head of ANM said that “the beginning of May brought, practically every day, records of minimum or maximum temperatures, as being the lowest values ​​since meteorological measurements have been made in our country”.

“Even this morning, on May 3, 2026, 28 weather stations recorded the lowest minimum temperatures since meteorological measurements have been taken, three of which are considered monthly records, as being the lowest values ​​for a month of May since we record such measurements”, concluded Elena Mateescu.
