A half-meter metal rod pierced a man in the Moscow region and stuck out of his armpit.
A 57-year-old man was admitted to the emergency department of the Lukhovitskaya hospital with a rod 60 centimeters long and 10 millimeters in diameter sticking out of his armpit. The patient said that he had an unsuccessful fall on building materials.
A piece of reinforcement passed through the axillary region between the first rib and the collarbone to the back of the neck, but miraculously did not touch vital organs and blood vessels.
Doctors performed an emergency operation, removed the rod from the patient and drained the wound canal. A few days later the drainage was removed. The patient has recovered and is now recovering at home.
