At one point, Gianni Infantino and the two presidents shared the stage and the FIFA boss tried to get them to take a picture together.
While the president of the Federation in Israel had no reaction, the ruler of Palestine vehemently opposed. He shouted to the audience “We are the ones who suffer”, hugged Infantino and walked off the stage.
At the FIFA congress, during his speech, Gianni Infantino also spoke about the two Federations and had a message for their leaders.
“You should never forget one thing. The two federations have the same rights. They have the right to organize football in your territories, the right to represent your countries on the international stage and the right and duty to instill in your children a love of football and respect for each other“, he said.
The conflict between Israel and Palestine remains one of the most tense and complex in the world, and the situation is currently extremely tense. After the major escalation triggered by the attack of the Hamas group on Israel, since October 2023, the conflict turned into a war, concentrated in particular in the area of the Gaza Strip. Israel has responded with intense military operations, saying it aims to eliminate Hamas.
