Why is this important?
The decree signed by the president authorizes the imposition of sanctions on entities and persons who support the Cuban security apparatus, are complicit in corruption and serious human rights violations, as well as agents, officials and persons providing material support to the Cuban government. The decree also provides for the freezing of all assets of sanctioned persons and entities located on US territory or under the control of US entities.
