$400 million from the US budget will be sent to Ukraine for protection against Russian aggression. Secretary of Defense (War) Pete Hegseth announced this on April 29, writes The Hill.
“$400 million was allocated to strengthen European capabilities, and yesterday they were released,” said the head of the Pentagon.
The funds are intended to finance the production of priority types of weapons by American companies for the Ukrainian armed forces, the publication notes.
On April 28, the former Republican leader in the US Senate, Mitch McConnell, wrote in The Washington Post that in 2025, the US Congress approved aid to Ukraine in the amount of $400 million for 2026 and the same amount for 2027.
“However, the aid to Ukraine that we approved several months ago is now gathering dust in the Pentagon,” he said.
