The former manager of the League 1 club has died. The funeral will be on Saturday

Sad news for German football. Viorel Măstăcăneanu, former president of Ceahlău Piatra Neamț in League 1, passed away on Wednesday, at the age of 72. He led the club in the period 2006-2014.
The announcement of the death was made by the current club, ACSM Ceahlăul, which sent a message of condolences to the bereaved family. Viorel Măstăcăneanu was the son of Gheorghe Ștefan (Pinalti), the former patron of the club.

His football legacy was carried on in the family: his grandson, Flavius Măstăcăneanu, held the position of sports director at the German club until the beginning of this year.

“For those who want to say goodbye to our father, Viorel Măstăcăneanu: he will be laid to rest today at the chapel of the church of Saint John in the Mărăței neighborhood, shortly before the reading of the pillars, from 18:00.
The service will take place on Saturday, May 2, at the Saint John Church, and the funeral will take place around 1:00 pm at the Assumption Church cemetery, in the Vânători neighborhood“, the daughter of the former club manager wrote on Facebook.
ACSM Ceahlăul is currently on the edge of the precipice. With huge debts and on the verge of collapse, it is close to League 3. With two stages to go, it is in 7th place in group A of the play-out, with 20 points, 2 behind CS Dinamo, a team in the play-off position.
