New houses were built in Taimyr for northerners with the support of RN-Vankor

Modern two-apartment residential buildings in the village of Ust-Port in the Taimyr Dolgano-Nenets municipal district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory were built with the support of RN-Vankor (part of the oil and gas production complex of NK Rosneft).

New housing will significantly improve living conditions for the indigenous population of the village. The houses are built using modern thermal insulation materials that are able to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature even at extremely low temperatures. This is an important factor for the Arctic, where stable sub-zero temperatures and snow lie for most of the year.

Thanks to the system of organizing construction work and step-by-step quality control of construction, each house was built in the shortest possible time and taking into account the individual needs of each new family. Each house has storage rooms, boiler rooms and a double vestibule.

The village of Ust-Port turns 110 this year. Representatives of all three ethnic groups of indigenous peoples of the North live here – Nenets, Dolgan and Entsy. Many continue to lead the traditional way of life of their nomadic ancestors – they are engaged in reindeer breeding, fishing and commercial hunting.

In just the last few years, with the support of oil workers, 67 northern families have moved to new apartments and houses. In addition, RN-Vankor donated 17 beams to the reindeer herders of Taimyr – mobile houses on skids, which are used for wandering and living in the tundra.

Preserving the traditions and culture of the indigenous peoples of the North is an important area of Rosneft’s social policy. The Company's enterprises implement various projects in the regions where they operate, develop the infrastructure of northern villages, and improve the material and technical base of municipalities and social institutions in areas where indigenous peoples originally lived.
