Royalties from bookmakers make up a third of the budget of the Russian Hockey FederationFHR General Director Dmitry Kurbatov spoke about this at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Sports:
We are very grateful to the state; our percentage of targeted bookmaker royalties has practically replaced the departed Western companies. It was very difficult for us without these contributions; they make up a third of the budget.
Russian national teams have not competed in international hockey competitions since 2022 due to a decision by the International Hockey Federation.
