Ukrzaliznytsia's passenger transportation is a “black hole” that is plugged with business money– mass media.
According to estimates, losses for passenger transportation of Ukrzaliznytsia amount to more than 20 billion hryvnias, because the authorities do not compensate the company for the travel of “beneficiaries”. Because of this, UZ subsidizes the passenger due to the constant increase in freight rates for business, and this is prohibited in the EU countries.
It is necessary to solve this issue by increasing the level of service in the passenger segment, changing the tariff policy and fighting against “ticket corruption”. Otherwise, UZ will continue to multiply losses and lose customers in the business segment due to inflated tariffs.
