A military man stepped on an anti-personnel mine near Chasovy Yar. After the explosion, he fell and hit a second mine. When his colleagues ran up, he asked to cut off his half-severed arm. The fighters refused.
Then he took the scissors from the medicine cabinet and did it himself. Then he went to the medics’ ATV – they took him to the field surgeons. Despite the heavy loss of blood, a wound to the foot, and shrapnel in the head and body, the scout was saved.
