The portal emphasized that the diplomatic process has stalledand the Iranian leadership is divided over possible concessions regarding the nuclear program. “The Iranian proposal would bypass this issue, allowing for a faster agreement,” the article says.

Iran doesn't know what to do with US demands

One of the website's sources reported that Aragchi clearly told mediators from Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey and Qatar last weekend that There is no agreement within the Iranian leadership on how to respond to US demands. The United States wants Iran to suspend its uranium enrichment program for at least 10 years and to remove the already enriched uranium from the country.

The new proposal focuses on the solution first of all, the crisis around the Strait of Hormuz and the American naval blockade. This would involve agreeing a long-term ceasefire or permanently ending the war.

Under this proposal, nuclear negotiations would only begin at a later stage, after the opening of Hormuz and the lifting of the naval blockade.

The United States has received this proposal, but it is not known whether it wants to consider it, writes Axios.

What does the US respond to reports about talks with Iran?

White House representative Olivia Wales told the portal: — These are confidential diplomatic talks, and the United States does not conduct negotiations through the press. As the president said [Donald Trump]the US holds its cards and will only conclude an agreement that primarily takes into account the good of the Americans; They will never agree to Iran having nuclear weapons.

Axios notes that lifting the blockade of the strait and ending the war would deprive Trump of his tools of influence during future talks on the removal of Iran's stockpiles of enriched uranium and Tehran's suspension of its further enrichment, which are its two main war goals.

A ceasefire has been in force in the US and Israel's war with Iran since April 8.
