The City Hall of the Capital begins work on the tram lines on several boulevards. Ciucu: “If we don't do them now, we won't do them at all”

The City Hall of the Capital announces the continuation of the modernization of the tram tracks in Bucharest, starting on Monday the works on Bd. Bucurestii Noi, Bd. Gloriei, Strada Piatra Morii, simultaneously with the advancement of the works on Calea Griviţei, informs News.ro.
“We are continuing the modernization of the tram tracks in Bucharest! Tomorrow we will start work on Bd. Bucurestii Noi, Bd. Gloriei, Strada Piatra Morii and advance on Calea Griviţei”, says the Bucharest City Hall on Facebook.
PMB shows that this section is part of the 4th place, 7 km long, which starts from Dămăroaia and ends at Piaţa Victoriei. The town hall also announces that, from Wednesday, April 29, it will hand over the site for lot 5, 1.8 km long, related to the streets: Mântuleasa, Paleologu, Armand Călinescu, Vasile Lascăr, Lizeanu and the entrance of Vagonului (lines 16 and 5).
“We now have 36 kilometers of rail in the works. Another 5.5 are ready, welcome. We have many construction sites open, we are aware of the inconvenience caused in traffic. But these works are essential for Bucharest. And it is also essential to finish them on time, so as not to lose European funding”, emphasizes PMB.
“If we don't do them now, we don't do them at all and we lose the European funding (…) It's not just about simple works on the tram lines: other works are needed on the sewage network, water and other utilities. They need design, tenders, budgeting, etc. All these things take time and the coordination of many institutions and companies is needed. We don't do them superficially, so that in another 2 or 3 years we'll dig again”, said Mayor General Ciprian Ciucu.
Since Monday, the city hall has also announced changes to the routes of lines 53 and 331, adding that the works that start tomorrow on the tram tracks do not affect road traffic, but there will be changes to the routes of public transport.
“Thus, tram line 53 will operate on a shortened route, between the “Mezeş” terminal and Bd. Bucureşti Noi, as follows: “Mezeş”, Şos. Chitilei, Bd. Bucurestii Noi, with return to “Bucurestii Noi Depot” and return. Bus line 331 will operate, in the direction of “District Dămăroaia”, as follows: “Piaţa Romană”, Bd. Nicolae Bălcescu, Bd. Dacia, Calea Dorobanţi, Bd. Mareşal Constantin Prezan, Bd. Regele Mihai I, Bd. Poligrafiei, Str. Jiului, Str. Natatiei, Str. Piatra Morii, with return after the central square from the intersection with Bd. Gloriei, terminal “Cartier Dămăroaia”. In the opposite direction, the route will not be changed”, says PMB.
