One of the event participants was Paweł Żochowski, Polish correspondent of RMF FM in Washington. He posted the video on social media. “This is what it looked like inside. Shots. Then an appeal for everyone to hide under the table. Shots were fired during the annual White House correspondents' dinner with the US president. Polish correspondents, as well as representatives of the Polish embassy are safe,” he wrote on X.

Trump announced at a press conference at the White House that the Secret Service agent who was shot that evening was in good condition. He reported that the attacker was from California and believed he acted alone. He called him a “madman.”
In response to a question about whether he thought he was the attacker's target, the president replied: “I think so.” He added that there were no safety warnings before the gala.
Trump also said Saturday's event would not stop him from winning the war with Iran, although he does not think the issues are related.
