Marius Măldărășanu (51 years old) acted on Hermannstadt in court, requesting the bankruptcy of the Sibiu club, based on its debts. A similar path was followed by some former Sibiu players, including Cătălin Căbuz, Bright Addae and Adrian Scarlatache.

In December 2025, Hermannstadt's management decided to dismiss coach Marius Măldărășanu, in the context where the team's performances and results did not meet expectations.

The Sibiu club did not pay the coach all the sums he owed, so Măldărășanu went to court, joining the process in which, over the years, several creditors requested the bankruptcy of Hermannstadt based on debts.

Still free of contract, Măldărășanu took this step in March. In the meantime, the club paid part of the debts and clapped hands with the coach from Ploiești for staggering the rest. But the process continues, with a new deadline set for May 13, as originally reported by oradesibiu.ro.

  • The former coach and the former players of Sibiu had to go directly to court, signing up to the credit table, because Hermannstadt is insolvent, and the Romanian Football Federation cannot forcibly execute companies in such a situation.

Marius Măldărășanu requested the bankruptcy of Hermannstadt: “Fortunately, things have been resolved”

Măldărășanu specified for fanatik.ro that “I went to the courts to recover my financial arrears. Not only me, several footballers who had money to recover did the same. But I'm sure that none of us wants the bankruptcy of Hermannstadt, but I did this because it was the only way I could get my money back“.

“If they had called me from the club to tell me to postpone, that there were problems or other things, I wouldn't have had a problem. But that didn't happen, and because the team is insolvent, we talked to the lawyer and we agreed that we have to go to civil court to recover the arrears. The action was started at the beginning of March, and a new deadline was supposed to be on May 13.

Fortunately, things worked out. They paid what they had to pay, I also agreed with the installments of some amounts until Septemberthey probably needed it to be okay for licensing.

I told you, I don't think anyone wanted the bankruptcy of Hermannstadt, but that was the situation. Come to think of it, so did they. When those from Portugal did not give the money on time for the transfer of Ianis Stoica, those from Hermannstadt went to TAS”, added the one who led the Sibiu team for four and a half years.
