Farmers' protest in Warsaw. They oppose the EU-Mercosur agreement


The farmers' meeting is to begin at Plac Defilad at 11 a.m. After the meeting, participants will set off along Aleje Jerozolimskie, pass Rondo de Gaulle, Nowy Świat Street, Plac Trzech Krzyży, and then head to Wiejska Street, where the Sejm building is located.

The next stage will be a march along Piękna Street and Aleje Ujazdowskie to the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. The organizers anticipate that the demonstration in front of the government headquarters may last until 3 p.m.

Farmers' protest. Difficulties in Warsaw
The Public Transport Authority announced that police officers would supervise the event. “Officers will decide on an ongoing basis to close the streets along the march route, as well as cross streets,” we read.
If travel is not possible, buses serving lines 107, 108, 111, 116, 117, 118, 127, 128, 131, 158, 159, 166, 171, 175, 180, 503, 507, 517, 520, 521, 525 and tram lines 4, 7, 9, 15, 16, 18, 22, 24, 25 will be diverted.
In Warsaw, there are restrictions on the entry of agricultural tractors and slow-moving vehicles, which have been introduced in various parts of the city. These prohibitions apply, among others, to the following intersections: Okuniewska/1 Praski Pułku, Trakt Brzeski/Jana Paweł II, Patriotów/Bysławska, Walcownicza/Patriotów, Wał Miedzeszyński/Bysławska, Przyczółkowa/Waflowa, Puławska/Karczunkowska, Aleja Krakowska/S-2, Aleje Jerozolimskie/Ryżowa, Kasprzaka/Ordona, Wolska/Elekcyjna, S-8/Połczyńska, Górczewska/Lazurowa, Arkuszowa/Estrady, Pułkowa/Wóycickiego, Modlińska/Płochocińska and Modlińska near Sprawna Street. Violation of these regulations may result in police arrest and a fine.
Farmers' protest against the Mercosur agreement. What is it about?
Farmers intend to express their opposition to the trade agreement negotiated by the European Union with the Mercosur countries. According to them, the inflow of food products from South America poses a threat to Polish farms. They also draw attention to the use of plant protection products and antibiotics by Mercosur countries, which are banned in the European Union.

Karol Nawrocki will meet with farmers' representatives
A meeting of President Karol Nawrocki with representatives of farmers who will be protesting against the Mercosur agreement that day is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday – this information was provided by the head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, Zbigniew Bogucki. He also called on MPs to support the presidential project regarding the protection of Polish agriculture.
Zbigniew Bogucki announced in a statement issued on Thursday that the president would meet with the leaders of agricultural organizations protesting in Warsaw against the trade agreement being negotiated between the European Union and the Mercosur countries.
The meeting will take place at the Presidential Palace. — The president wants to conduct dialogue and help Polish farmers; wants to build responsibility for Polish food security together with them, said the head of the KPRP.
