Trump sends his emissaries for new negotiations with Iran. The talks will be held in Islamabad

President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner will leave for Islamabad on Saturday for talks with Iran, mediated by Pakistan, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced, Reuters reports.
In a conversation with reporters at the White House, Leavitt said the Trump administration had seen “some progress” from Iran over the past two days, but did not elaborate.
“Steve and Jared will be heading to Pakistan tomorrow to hear what the Iranians have to say. We hope that progress will be made and we hope for positive developments to come out of this meeting,” Leavitt said.
Earlier, Reuters reported that Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is expected in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, on Friday to discuss proposals for resuming peace talks with the United States.
Leavitt said Vice President JD Vance, who led the US delegation to the first round of talks earlier this month, is also prepared to go to Pakistan if initial talks are successful.
“The president, the vice president, the secretary of state will be waiting here in the United States for the latest information, and the vice president, as I understand it, is prepared to go to Pakistan if we consider it a necessary use of his time,” the press secretary said.
On Thursday, Trump unilaterally extended the ceasefire in the Gulf to give more time to negotiations aimed at ending the war.
