“Tuapse is no more.” Russians complain of an “ecological catastrophe.” What do Ukrainians answer them?

Russians are complaining on social networks about the consequences of an attack by Ukrainian drones on an oil refinery in Tuapse in the Krasnodar Territory of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation: smoke, fumes and sea pollution. The publication “GORDON” collected reactions of Russians and answers to them from Ukrainians.

Thus, local residents complain that in the morning after the second strike on the Tuapse oil refinery, “oil rain” was dripping in the city. Everything around was covered with an oily film and black balls.

Local residents are looking for places where they can get some fresh air. Some people leave home, others go up to the mountains.

A video has become popular on social networks where a Russian woman complains in tears that she wanted to live with her children near the sea, but now there is “nothing to do” there.

“I fucking wanted to live at sea with my child. The sea is all over…towered with this fuel oil. Everything is ruined. What the hell is there to do here at all? These…fucking UAVs are flying around, destroying everything. You don’t know if you’ll be alive here at all. Will you wake up alive at all, you and your child?” – she said.

“The city of Tuapse no longer exists. It was destroyed. In fact. The land there is poisoned, the water is poisoned, the air is poisoned. There is black rain falling there right now, like in Hiroshima – water with oil soot. It kills vegetation, insects, birds,” writes Russian blogger Pavel Kukhmirov. The report said residents in the city and surrounding areas are being told not to leave their homes or open windows. There is an oil slick up to 7 km in the sea. “That is, the harbor and the entire coastline are dead,” he writes.

RIA Katyusha writes that the ground and air in Tuapse are poisoned, the city is filled with smoke, and the oil slick in the sea is visible even from space. “The resort shore is no longer there – it’s simply dead,” the message says. The channel notes that there is no response from the authorities to the environmental disaster.

TikTok user valeriy.evsin posted a video from Tuapse and wrote that the city is suffocating. “After the repeated attack on April 20, a dense black wall of smoke hung over the city after a powerful fire at an oil refinery facility. No evacuation was announced, and local authorities simply turned a blind eye,” the caption to the video reads.

Ukrainian blogger Sergei Naumovich quoted a comment that a Russian woman wrote to him after one of her posts. She called the attacks on Russian refineries “ecological and industrial terrorism” and also said that ordinary residents of Tuapse can do nothing to stop the attacks. “The Armed Forces of Ukraine don’t send them leaflets; they don’t make any requests or appeals to the Russian population during their strikes. It’s just terror in its purest form,” the Russian woman complained.

“Well, what are you doing, Tuapse…” How Ukrainians react

Under the complaining posts of Russians, users from Ukraine actively respond to them. Under almost every such post they ironically ask: “What happened? Otherwise we are not interested in politics” or “What is the name of the movie?” (a response to Russian allegations that the consequences of the Russian occupation in Bucha and other video evidence of Russian war crimes are allegedly staged).

The Russians were reminded how in March 2022 Tuapse treated the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

“We feel sorry for animals, birds, fish and insects, we feel sorry for the flora too. And human children. Is it the children’s fault that their parents are stupid? But we feel even more sorry for watching the video from 2022, where Tuapse announces a motor rally in support of “SVO” in Ukraine. Well, Tuapse… Well, didn’t you know that for every action there is a reaction?” – writes volunteer Diana Makarova.

The Exilenova+ Telegram channel commented on a video in which a Russian woman says that “ordinary Russians” are suffering and calls on Ukrainians to be “humane.”

“Probably, if a cancer cell could speak, during therapy it would say something like: “I just exist. I don't want to kill you. I am very sorry that you are suffering…” Can you come to an agreement with a cancer cell? Can you count on the cancer cell to take pity on you? Can you expect the cancer to go away on its own? No,” the message says.

“That is, when you captured the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the environmental disaster did not worry you. When they launched a drone into the sarcophagus in Chernobyl, the environmental disaster did not worry you. When the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station was blown up, the environmental disaster did not worry you… And now that it has arrived to you, you are finally concerned about the environmental disaster,” user olga.pogynaiko wrote in Threads.

Adviser to the Minister of Defense and volunteer Sergei Sternenko also responded to Russian complaints: “The war is returning to where it came from. And this is just the beginning.”
