Inter qualified for the Coppa Italia final on Tuesday night after a dramatic game and a fairytale comeback from 0-2 down against Como. Cristi Chivu's team won 3-2 in the last act of the competition and will meet in the match for the trophy Lazio, who, in turn, went through with a lot of emotions in the final after penalty kicks.

The second Coppa Italia semi-final, Atalanta v Lazio, took place on Wednesday night and was absolutely crazy, decided on penalties. After 2-2 in the round, at the Olimpico, Lazio managed to achieve success in the return leg on Wednesday, from Bergamo. It was 1-1 after 190 minutes and 2-1 on penalties.

Lazio, dramatic qualification in the final of the Italian Cup

The first half was modest and none of the teams managed to score, being still equal between the two opponents. In the second half, he scored twice, but not enough to establish the second finalist in 90 minutes.

First, in the 61st minute Ederson scored for the hosts, but his success was canceled by VAR. The end of regular time was dramatic, with two goals in two minutes. Romagnoli gave Lazio the lead in the 84th minute, and Pasalic (86) sent the semi-final into extra time.

There, Raspadori brought joy to the hosts, but after three minutes of analysis his success was canceled by VAR. Nothing happened until the end of the two overtime periods, and the semi-final went to penalties, where the drama was at its highest.

Raspadori converted the first, for 1-0, then followed no less than 4 missed penalty kicks, two for each camp. Isaksen equalized at 1, then Atalanta missed and Taylor gave Lazio a 2-1 lead. In the last series, De Ketelaere missed a fourth consecutive penalty for Atalanta, who were eliminated from the competition.

Inter – Lazio, Italian Cup final

Inter, the current leader of the Italian championship, and a team that has one hand on the trophy in the domestic competition, has the chance to make the event this season, in the very first edition of the championship of Chivu on the bench of the “nerazzurri”.

In the current season, Inter and Lazio met in the fall, and Inter won 2-0 at home. The return is scheduled before the Cup final, around May 10.

The final of the Italian Cup is scheduled to take place on May 13, in Rome. Until then, Inter will most likely win the title in Italy. He has a chance to do it right at the end of this week. How can Chivu's team uncork the champagne? There are two scenarios, in a battle with three teams, but in which one, Inter, is the clear favorite, having 12 points ahead.

  • To win their match against Torino. In this case it would make 81 points;

  • Napoli not to win against Cremonese and AC Milan not to beat Juventus. Each would score a maximum of 67 points and the difference would be 14 points with 4 stages left to play and only 12 points up for grabs;

OR

  • Inter to draw with Torino. In this case it would reach 79 points;

  • Napoli to lose to Cremonese and AC Milan to lose to Juventus. Then, the two would remain with 66 points and the difference would be 13 points with 4 stages left to play

Chivu can enter a list of huge names

If he manages to win the event in Italy, Cristi Chivu will go down in history. In Italian football, only seven managers have managed to win the title and the Cup in the same season. The Romanian would become the eighth.

Among them are the famous Marcello Lippi, Sven Goran Eriksson, Jose Mourinho and Massimiliano Allegri, the latter having four in a row with Juventus.

At the same time, Chivu will become only the second coach with the “double” title and Cup in Inter's history, after Jose Mourinho in the 2009-'10 season (he even managed the Triple, also winning the Champions League).
