The tenants of the Zakopane Housing Cooperative recently received official letters reminding them of the existing restrictions on the use of gas in multi-story buildings. The announcements drew attention to the ban on using and storing gas cylinders in buildings with more than four floors above ground.
The Cooperative emphasized that persons who do not comply with these regulations are fully responsible for any damage or accidents that may result.

The cooperative reminds that propane-butane, which is heavier than air, in the event of a leak settles on the floor and in the lower parts of the building, such as basements. This situation creates a risk of fire or explosion.
For this reason, residents of higher buildings are advised to use only electric appliances for cooking, for example induction hobs, cookers or ovens.
Minister's regulation on gas cylinders
The regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure clearly states that liquefied gas and network gas cannot be used at the same time in buildings with more than four floors. If no gas installation has been installed in a given facility, residents have no right to use any type of gas.

The Cooperative warns that violating these rules may result in an inspection by the Fire Brigade or the District Construction Supervision Inspectorate.
The information sent emphasized that caring for the safety of all tenants and the entire building is the most important goal. The Cooperative pointed out that failure to comply with the ban on using gas cylinders is not only a violation of the law, but also a violation of the principles of social coexistence.

If the use of a gas cylinder leads to a situation that threatens the health or life of residents, an explosion or fire, this act may be considered as causing conditions generally dangerous to life or health. This is punishable by imprisonment.
In addition, the user of the cylinder is civilly liable for any damage incurred, and the insurer has the right to refuse to pay compensation if the incident occurred as a result of breaking the regulations.
