Trump insists Iran's nuclear program was “completely destroyed” by Operation Midnight Hammer

US President Donald Trump said recovering Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium would require “a long and difficult process” amid lingering tensions over Iran's nuclear program and diplomatic talks in the making.

“Operation Midnight Hammer was a complete and utter destruction of Iran's nuclear dust sites”, said Donald Trump, referring to the airstrikes ordered in June 2025 on some Iranian nuclear facilities, according to international media.

The Washington leader continues to claim that the attacks “they completely destroyed” Tehran's nuclear program.

In the same statement, the US president described the difficulty of recovering nuclear material: “Therefore, to excavate it will be a long and difficult process”he added.

The claims come amid preparations for fresh high-level diplomatic talks in Pakistan. Trump announced on Sunday that representatives of the United States will travel to Islamabad for negotiations, but the Iranian side has not officially confirmed their participation.

Tehran has made the dialogue conditional on the lifting of the US blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, a major strategic point for the transport of global oil.

These developments follow a first round of direct US-Iran contacts hosted in Islamabad on April 11-12, the first such meeting since the severing of diplomatic relations between the two states in 1979.

Although the talks were seen as an important step, they ended without a concrete agreement or understanding.
