CFR Cluj, represented by Răzvan Puiu, won the title of the second season of eSuperliga, the official esports league affiliated with the Professional Football League of Romania and EA SPORTS.
After winning the trophy with Craiova University in the previous season, Răzvan Puiu confirms his status as the title champion and manages to defend his title, this time in the CFR Cluj shirt, once again demonstrating constancy, adaptability and a top level of play.
The final stages of the eSuperliga season 2 took place on April 18 and 19, at Circul Metropolitan Bucharest, where the best teams of the season faced each other for the trophy and qualification for international competitions.
“The eSuperliga confirms the growing interest in esports in Romania. We are particularly pleased with the increased involvement of football clubs, from one season to the next, in supporting players and developing the competition. We see more and more clearly that this phenomenon represents an opportunity for clubs to connect with the new generation and attract future supporters around their teams.”, he stated Mihai Cotos, eSuperliga organizer.
Răzvan Puiu's course in the elimination stages was a solid one. In the quarter-finals, it passed Petrolul Ploiești, represented by Alexandru Tenescu, with the overall score of 16-10. In the semi-finals, Puiu defeated Craiova University (Andrei Anghelina) 13-9 on aggregate, securing his place in the grand final. In the other semifinal, FC Botoșani, represented by Cristian Bîlcu, beat FC Rapid (Alexandru Moisii) 12-10.
The grand final brought CFR Cluj and FC Botoșani face to face, in a spectacular duel between Răzvan Puiu and Cristian Bîlcu. After two intense matches, CFR Cluj prevailed with the overall score of 19-14, Răzvan Puiu thus succeeding in awarding himself a new title of champion.
The performance once again confirms Răzvan Puiu's value in the EA SPORTS FC scene, as he managed to maintain his high level of play and defend his title in an extremely competitive season.
“I entered the competition with the clear objective of winning the eSuperliga again. The title obtained now gives me confidence and motivation to move forward and fight for a new international trophy. That's what I aim for this year,” he said Răzvan Puiu.
Răzvan Puiu will once again represent Romania in the top international competitions, taking part in the eChampions League and the qualifiers for the FC Pro World Championship, two of the most important virtual football tournaments, where the best players in the world compete for the ultimate global title.
Throughout his career, Răzvan won the EA FC European Championship twice and achieved a top 8 finish at the World Championship. eSuperliga finalist Cristian Bîlcu will also play in the FC Pro World Championship qualifiers.
