Member of the Russian boxing team Dmitry Dvali lost his sight after standing up for a man in Crimea. A crowd of 8–10 people beat and jumped on the athlete. According to Dmitry, the police released the criminals after interrogation and now want to reclassify the case – make the article more lenient.
The fight occurred in Feodosia on July 28, at approximately 6:30 am. Dima was returning to the hotel from a jog with a friend. The guys saw that a crowd of big men was beating up a young man of 25–30 years old, they were afraid that they would kill him, and they ran to help. First Dvali's friend, and then himself. I tried to calm down the inappropriate people, but it didn’t work. After providing first medical aid, doctors began urgently organizing a transfer to Moscow for the athlete. The investigator came to the boxer when he was already being sent to the capital, but they couldn’t really talk because they had to urgently fly away to save his eye.

As far as I know, these guys were caught and then released on bail. And no one is sitting. They seem to want to reclassify the case, I heard. In general, this is some kind of hooliganism. I have a problem with my eye, my eye is practically knocked out… My nose is broken, my orbital bone is destroyed. My friend has a seriously broken arm. And the article will simply be reclassified as petty hooliganism,

— Dmitry said in a conversation with a Mash correspondent.
He added that if surgeons save his eye, it would be a miracle. He wants to continue boxing and compete for the national team. But he has a hard time believing this – he said that he is in despair because his dreams were destroyed.
23-year-old Dmitry Dvali was born in the Saratov region and lives in Balashikha near Moscow. I have been involved in martial arts all my life. He took gold at the Military World Championships in 2021, bronze at the World Amateur Championships (IBA), and in April of this year became the European champion at a tournament in Belgrade.
