“An extraordinary surprise that we had today at the headquarters of the National Liberal Party in Bucharest: Prime Minister Bolojan came for an unannounced visit.
The discussions were open and direct. Most of us made it clear to him that we didn't want him to resign — and his response was just as firm: He won't.”Silviu Feroiu sent on Facebook.
The Liberal added that Bolojan, when asked how he manages to withstand the wave of criticism, including from colleagues in the government, replied “simple and memorable: “When someone curses you, it's like a blessing.”
“A message that speaks volumes about determination. One thing is certain: reforms will continue, at all levels.”
On Wednesday, the president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, warned of a sharp deterioration in economic indicators and demanded an “urgent reset” of government policies, against the background of some data that he considers alarming.
“This is not political propaganda, but real data, a shock x-ray, which shows us that the economy is rapidly collapsing and the Romanians are doing it worse and worse. That's why – continuing to take measures against your own people is a mistake. And this must be fixed quickly!”, Grindeanu also said.
At the same time, AUR collects signatures to submit a motion of censure against the Government led by Ilie Bolojan.
The leader of the AUR senators, Petrișor Peiu, stated that the formation builds its approach based on economic developments and not on political tensions in the coalition.
“We cannot make no-confidence motions depending on the discontent in the coalition (…) We will have three quarters of economic decline, and this is an objective basis for a no-confidence motion”, said Peiu, at the Parliament.
The censure motion announced by the AUR would be submitted after May 13, depending on economic developments and the parliamentary calendar.
