Trump is against Christians. The war between the head of the White House and his own coalition threatens to lose the elections – Axios

The author of the publication noted that Trump owes his return to the White House to “the most eclectic alliance,” which included supporters of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, crypto enthusiasts, anti-war populists and conservative Christians. Now, because of Trump, this structure is rapidly crumbling and may never be reassembled.

Axios noted that Trump's remarks in recent weeks have shocked the MAGA Christian base. He first threatened to bomb Iranian power plants and bridges in a Truth Social post and captioned the profanity-filled text with “Praise be to Allah.” Then he threatened Iran with the “death of civilization,” which caused horror even among his close allies.

On April 13, the American president criticized Pope Leo XIV for his position on the US war against Iran. The publication emphasized that Catholics, who make up approximately a fifth of the US population, are the country's main religious voting bloc. Therefore, Trump's attacks on the pope, whose popularity far exceeds his own, could become self-destructive and seriously damage him during the midterm congressional elections this November.

However, even after making statements addressed to the pontiff, the head of the White House did not stop. On the same day, on Truth Social, he published a photo of himself, generated by artificial intelligence, in the image of Jesus Christ, who heals people. After the network erupted in criticism of him, Trump deleted the post, saying that the picture showed him as a Red Cross worker and that he was misunderstood.

Trump's “war on his own coalition,” as Axios writes, extends beyond church issues. He has attacked the most powerful media figures among his supporters, alienated crypto enthusiasts with controversial actions, lost much of his support among Latinos and blacks, and dealt a number of blows to farmers with his trade policies (tariffs have cut into profits, deportations have reduced the number of workers, and the war with Iran has driven up fuel prices).

The media, citing a CBS News/YouGov poll, reported a drop in Trump's rating among voters by 40 points since the beginning of his presidential term.

A White House spokesman told Axios that despite claims in the media, the MAGA movement supports Trump and polls do not indicate a split.

And American journalist Megan Kelly noted that “the question is no longer who Trump lost, but who is still with him.”
