Russian attack with drones on the border with Romania. Two F-16s lifted off the ground. RO-Alert messages in Tulcea

Last night, Russian forces attacked civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania, in Tulcea county, MApN announces. The military says there were no unauthorized incursions into national airspace during the attacks, but air defense systems were put into firing positions.

The Russians attacked repeatedly, and two RO-Alert messages were issued for the north of Tulcea county. The first alert message was issued at 02:37, and the second at 05:08.

“As a result of the detection of a group of drones that was evolving near Romania's airspace (in the direction of Vâlcove), the National Military Command Center (nucleus) notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations regarding the establishment of measures to alert the population in the north of Tulcea county, being sent, at 02:37, a RO-Alert message,” MApN said on Wednesday morning.

The army stated that two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force from the Air Police Combat Service took off from the 86th Air Base in Feteşti, and the anti-aircraft defense systems were put into firing positions.

“A few hours later, another group of drones was detected moving towards Ismail, and a new RO-Alert message was sent at 5:08 a.m. No unauthorized intrusions into the national airspace were reported. The air alert status ended at 5:42 a.m.,” according to MApN.

The army also conveyed that the forces of the Ministry of National Defense maintain the necessary surveillance and coordination measures to protect the population and the national territory.
