US-Iran talks could resume in Pakistan in 'next couple of days': 'You should stay there because something could happen'

US President Donald Trump said talks between the United States and Iran could resume in the coming days after the first round failed over the weekend. Trump suggested that talks could continue in Pakistan, where previous negotiations have also taken place.

“You should stay there because something could happen in the next couple of days and we are inclined to go there for further negotiations with Iran.” said the leader of the White House, in an interview granted to the New York Post publication.
Trump praised the role played by Pakistan Army Commander Asim Munir, who he said was making a “great job” in mediating dialogue between Washington and Tehran.
“He's fantastic, so we're more likely to go back there,” he added.
The first round of negotiations, held over the weekend in Pakistan, ended without results. Following this failure, Donald Trump announced the imposition of a naval blockade against Iran, which came into effect on Monday.
However, the measure was not completely effective, with two commercial ships departing from Iranian ports managing to transit the Strait of Hormuz despite the restrictions imposed.
Where the US-Iran negotiations got stuck. The gesture that irritated the Iranians
Weekend negotiations between the United States and Iran over Tehran's nuclear program stalled over major differences of opinion over uranium enrichment, Axios reports, citing sources.
During the talks in Islamabad, US officials proposed that Iran accept a 20-year moratorium on uranium enrichment, a condition to which Tehran responded with a much shorter period, “in the single digits”, sources close to the negotiations said.
