“We will never forget him”

Anghel Iordănescu, lifelong rival and friend of Mircea Lucescu, was with his sons at the catafalque of “Il Luce” at the National ArenaThursday. Extremely affected, he offered a few statements as he left.
The legend of Stella came together with Edward, Alexandru and Andrei, his sons, to pay tribute to Mircea Lucescu, the legend of Dinamo. Anghel Iordănescu called “Il Luce” “the sage of Romanian football” and said that he will never forget him.
Anghel Iordănescu: “Respect and gratitude, Mircea Lucescu! Smooth path among the angels!”
“I want to say my condolences to the family, may God rest him in peace and tranquility! And may the family, Răzvan, Mrs. Neli and the others, overcome this particularly difficult moment. For me, personally, it is a moment when I want to say goodbye to a titan of Romanian football.
From a monument. Romanian football is losing a former great tricolor, an exceptional player, but at the same time one of the coaches that we were all proud of. It brought us many satisfactions, joys. I consider him the sage of Romanian football.
Generations of footballers passed through his hands whom he trained and educated. Mircea Lucescu always made sure that the highly talented footballers also had a good education. I honestly believe that all of us, those who say goodbye to Mircea Lucescu, will certainly never forget him.
Respect and gratitude, Mircea Lucescu! Smooth road among the angels. May God rest him in peace!”, said Anghel Iordănescu, upon exiting the stadium.
