Daily monitoring of small river levels has begun in Krasnoyarsk

9 April 19:20

In Krasnoyarsk, specialists will begin daily monitoring of the level of small rivers within the city. The head of Krasnoyarsk, Sergei Vereshchagin, held an on-site meeting on the flood situation on April 9 in Drokino.

The heads of the structures reported on the situation that is developing in the territories of the district after the first phase of melt water melting. City services are pumping water from the streets, washing storm water inlets and pipe collectors. The equipment also works in territories that have become part of greater Krasnoyarsk. Inert materials were brought in to counteract flooding and create embankments.

Intensive snow melting and filling of reservoirs is expected towards the end of April. Residential areas and roads near small rivers are at risk. In particular, serious consequences arise from the Kachi spill in Solontsy and Drokino.

“When the water rises in Kutch, garden and dacha areas in Drokino fall into the flooding zone. There is no such threat yet. Today the water level is less than 0.5 meters, the critical level is 2.5 meters. We are constantly monitoring the river preventively. We brought about 400 cubic meters of crushed stone in case there is a need to create embankments,” said the head of the Solontsovsky village council, Stanislav Ermakov.

Sergei Vereshchagin instructed the services to begin daily monitoring of water levels on all small rivers and streams of large Krasnoyarsk. In addition to Kacha, the objects include Bugach, Bazaikha, Panikovka in Torgashino, Sukhoi Log in Berezovka. Water gauges and a quadcopter are used to quickly monitor the situation.

“The flood situation has stabilized after active snow melting in open areas. Changeable weather also contributes to this. A difficult situation persists locally at the sites of garden societies, including in Cheryomushki. It is important to maintain feedback with residents, carefully monitor requests, and promptly respond to signals,” said Sergei Vereshchagin. “We expect that meltwater will soon begin to fill the reservoirs. Therefore, our services are facing a difficult period. I set the task of working on issues of organizing water drainage from problem points on an ongoing basis. Let’s consider the opportunity to begin implementing these decisions during the landscaping season.”
