What a moment on Italian television! Capello and Boban, monumental speech about Mircea Lucescu

Mircea Lucescu died on Tuesday evening, at the age of 80on the bed of the Bucharest University Emergency Hospital. Fabio Capello (79), one of the greatest coaches in Italian history, and Zvonimir Boban (57), Croatian football legend, paid their last respects.

During the show that had the central topic of the evening of the Champions League, with the quarters of Real Madrid – Bayern (1-2) and Sporting – Arsenal (0-1), the Italian journalists from Sky Sport learned the tragic news of the death of Mircea Lucescu.

“He was a good coach, a nice person, a nice guy I would say. He was very lively and when you met him he liked to talk about football but also about life. He was a curious person.

Every time I saw him, I liked him every time. And as a coach, his numbers speak for themselves,” said Capello.

One of the journalists of the Italian station also spoke: “He died for football! He died for his country. He sat on the bench for the first tie for the World Cup, the one with Turkey. He finished the game, got sick later. A huge person”.

The conclusion, in an admiring tone, belonged to Boban, a former winner of the Champions League with AC Milan: “A sweet, expressive man, I remember him with melancholy, like among the Balkans. A bohemian by nature, he loved Italian football. I know how much he enjoyed it! An extraordinary person. May he rest in peace!”.

Lucescu made his first contact with Italian football in 1990, when he went to Pisa. He also coached Brescia, Reggiana and Inter Milan.
