The film “Golden People” about modern gold mining and the people who work in this industry can now be watched on Kinopoisk.

The new documentary series “Golden People” consists of four episodes. The producer and author was the famous presenter, journalist and traveler Valdis Pelsh.

Over 114 days, the film crew visited four regions of Russia, covering a total of more than 50 thousand kilometers – by air, winter roads, and quarry roads. Cinematographers filmed more than 2,000 hours of footage to show the people who run modern, powerful production – with smart decisions and challenging tasks.

One of the episodes was filmed in the North Yenisei region of the region at the Olimpiada mining and processing plant of the Polyus company.

“We went to make a film about gold mining, but very quickly realized that the main thing is not the gold itself, but the people. Those who work in permafrost, far from big cities, who do their job honestly and with soul. They are the main gold of this industry,” said the film’s author and producer Valdis Pelsh.

The main characters of the film are gold miners, employees of Polyus, who in the film share rare facts, success stories and their personal discoveries. Viewers will see the entire process of extracting valuable metal – from the explosion of rock in a quarry to the smelting of a gold bar in a factory.

Gorgeous footage from the fields and iconic cultural and tourist places of the Siberian regions are intertwined with heartfelt stories of industry professionals. The film debunks myths about gold mining and shows how gold miners work and, most importantly, live in different regions of Russia today.

Vasily Gerasimenko, head of the mining department, working at the Vostochny quarry of the Olimpiada deposit:

“The first time I sat in the cab of a heavy truck was in 2005, when I was in practice. Not every day and not every person experiences such cool sensations! Absolutely everyone who works in a quarry has sat in the cab of a heavy truck at least once. After all, big boys love big toys, even bosses. I’ve been working here for so many years, but every time you go down to the Vostochny quarry it feels like the first time. The quarry is like a living soul. Every day, every end of the shift, everything happens differently here.”

The film premiered in January this year on Channel One. Now the documentary series can be watched on Kinopoisk.
