The special message of Gheorghe Hagi on the death of Mircea Lucescu

Gheorghe Hagi reacted on Tuesday evening after the death of the great coach Mircea Lucescu, which occurred at the University Hospital.
Gică Hagi says that Lucescu “was more than a coach, he was a mentor, a teacher, a man who believed in me and an important part of what I have become in football is due to him”.
“Today, one of the greatest legends of Romanian football left us, a personality of world football who made us proud in every moment of his life. He gave me confidence at the beginning of my journey and opened the way to great performance. He was more than a coach, he was a mentor, a teacher, a man who believed in me and an important part of what I have become in football is due to him. Thank you for everything, nea Mircea! Always in my heart! Condolences to the family”, wrote Gheorghe Hagi, in a message published on his Facebook page.
“A Child He Raised”
In fact, the “King” seemed extremely affected, in a telephone intervention on this subject, at Digi24, stating that Il Luce was “like a father” to him.
“It was a man… a very dear person, who supported me. It's a difficult moment, I'm sorry, may God forgive him. It was a man… a very dear person, who supported me. It's a difficult moment, I'm sorry, may God forgive him. I was a child he raised, he will always be in my soul. It's hard for me to speak,” said Hagi.
“It's hard for me to talk,” added the legendary National captain.
Coach Mircea Lucescu died on Tuesday evening, at the age of 80, at the Capital University Hospital.
The last match led by “Il Luce” was that of the Romanian national team against Turkey, on March 26, in the play-off for the 2026 World Cup.
The Romanian Football Federation was to validate on Wednesday, April 8, the appointment of Gheorghe Hagi as the national team selector, after the FRF officially announced, last week, the end of Lucescu's mandate.
However, after the announcement of the death of Mircea Lucescu, the FRF announced that the trial was postponed.
“In this context full of suffering for the entire family of Romanian football, the FRF announces that the process of appointing a new coach will be suspended for an indefinite period”, stated the FRF in a press release.
