PiS and President Karol Nawrocki's people want to involve Poland in a war in the Middle East. I will not allow this – wrote Prime Minister Donald Tusk on X. On Sunday, in an interview with Polsat News, presidential minister Marcin Przydacz assessed that Western European allies with an appropriate fleet should support the USA.

Przydacz, head of the presidential Office of International Policy, referred on Sunday in an interview with Polsat News to the issue of possible support from European NATO allies of the United States in their conflict with Iran, including: through possible participation in the mission to unblock the Strait of Hormuz, closed by Iran, which is crucial for the global transport of oil and other fuels.
The presidential minister assessed that some Western allies, “especially those who have the appropriate fleet and equipment” should “support the Americans as part of some coalition activity”, on the one hand in the name of their own interest – including lowering energy prices, and on the other in the name of Euro-Atlantic solidarity. – I strongly encourage them to do so – said Przydacz.
According to him, it would be useful for the US to consult with European allies before the start of the operation in Iran, but, as he said, “today this is the situation, and we need to try to work it out somehow as an ally and not get offended.”
“A bucket of cold water on your head.” The Prime Minister and the head of the Ministry of National Defense respond sharply
On Monday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote that “People of PiS and President Karol Nawrocki want to involve Poland in a war in the Middle East.”
I won't allow this. “You could use a bucket of cold water for your head, not only today,” he declared.
He was echoed by the deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense, Cezary Tomczyk (KO). “Mr. Przydacz can go as a volunteer. PiS sleepwalkers, as usual, want to drag Poland into some kind of madness,” he wrote in his entry.
“Western countries that have a navy should support the Americans – says Przydacz, Nawrocki's minister. They want to draw Poland into the conflict in the Middle East. They don't even hide it anymore,” wrote government spokesman Adam Szłapka.
In a Sunday conversation with Polsat, Przydacz also said that “when it comes to sending troops, today there is no such hard request for Poland, there is no expectation that Poland would take part in such an operation.” – Besides, I have the impression that neither the president nor the majority of Poles are ready and do not want this type of involvement – he said.
Trump threatens NATO and a dispute breaks out in Poland
Since February 28, Israeli and US troops have been waging war against Iran. In retaliation, the Iranian army continues to shell targets in Israel itself and facilities related to this country and the United States located in Middle Eastern countries. Moreover, Iran is blocking the Strait of Hormuz, which has caused a significant increase in the prices of oil, natural gas and fertilizers around the world.
In recent weeks, US President Donald Trump has indicated several times that European allies should help the US in the Middle East, primarily in the matter of reopening the Strait of Hormuz to commercial ships. However, his appeals and suggestions were met with a cold reception from European countries, distancing themselves from the conflict between Israel, the US and Iran.
Some European countries, such as Spain and Italy, limit or even deny American planes attacking Iran access to air bases on their territory. In response, Trump has repeatedly criticized NATO in recent days, calling the alliance a “paper tiger” and accusing Europeans of not being ready to support an ally in need. In several statements, including: for the British “The Telegraph”, the US president even said that he was considering withdrawing his country from the Alliance. (PAP)
