Every summer resident knows that it is necessary to take care of garlic in order to obtain large and vigorous heads. The plant especially needs support in April, after loosening and weeding.
Many gardeners limit themselves to one fertilizer containing nitrogen. However, this approach will not give the desired result, since garlic, like any other plant, requires a balanced diet.
When and what to feed
It is best to fertilize for the first time when the garlic has 3 leaves. It is best to choose complex fertilizers with a balanced composition. For example, nitroammophoska with the formula 16:16:16 is perfect.
Dilute 15 g of nitroammophoska in 10 liters of warm water and mix thoroughly so that the granules are completely dissolved. Water the garlic strictly at the root using a watering can without a rain attachment. Try not to get it on leaves or stems.
For 1 square meter of bed it will take approximately 3 liters. The best time to feed is morning or evening after watering with plain water. This way the fertilizer will be absorbed evenly and will not burn the roots.
The benefits of nitroammophoska for garlic
Nitroammophoska contains three main elements in equal proportions: nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Nitrogen helps garlic quickly grow green feathers, phosphorus strengthens the root system, and potassium is responsible for a large head.
Thanks to its balanced composition, one fertilizer replaces three different fertilizers. Garlic gets everything it needs right away, without unnecessary hassle for the summer resident. The harvest grows large, juicy and aromatic, and the teeth do not become smaller.
Important! Do not use nitroammophoska in cold soil. The soil should warm up to +10 degrees. Otherwise, there will be no benefit from feeding, says an experienced summer resident.
