This year, more than 606 hectares of the expanded Krasnoyarsk territory will be treated for ticks according to the instructions of Rospotrebnadzor, the mayor’s office said.

The list of territories subject to mandatory cultivation traditionally includes areas adjacent to forested areas, wastelands, areas of large squares and parks. Among them: 10 plots each in the Oktyabrsky and Sverdlovsk districts, 17 in the Sovetsky district, 4 in the Central district, 13 areas near railway platforms, plots in Berezovka and Solontsy.
The list also includes 32 addresses inside residential neighborhoods in different areas of the city where ticks were found in past years.

In addition, each contract provides funds for acaricidal treatment of areas according to epidemiological indications. These are those that were not included in the address list, but tick activity was observed there during the season.
In Krasnoyarsk they promise to process other municipal sites. For this purpose, a contractor has already been identified and money has been allocated from the city budget; the work will be carried out according to task plans and requests received by the 005 service.
“The main goal is the prevention of diseases carried by ixodids. Before processing, contractors will be required to conduct an entomological examination. If ticks are found, the areas will be treated with preparations that are safe for humans and animals. After a few days they will be examined again. If tick activity continues, they will be treated again. The work must be completed by the end of May. Dates will depend on weather conditions. The treatment is effective only in dry and warm weather, both before and after it. According to the law, only owners can cultivate private plots and territories of organizations,” the mayor’s office said.
