In the Ermakovsky District of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the court found an entrepreneur guilty of illegal logging, and his son – in aiding.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the scheme was organized by the head of the family in 2023:
“The son got the role of a logistician: he started looking for local residents from whom it was possible to buy out contracts for the sale and purchase of plantings. The father took on the representative part – so that no one would guess, he hired workers and drew up 6 fictitious contracts, giving what was happening the appearance of a legitimate activity. The disguise was successful, but only on paper. In reality, under the guise of honest business, 970 cubic meters disappeared from forest areas. m of pine and 26 cubic meters. m of birch. The damage caused to the forest fund amounted to 12.5 million rubles.”
Both defendants did not admit their guilt. However, the court sentenced the father under Part 3 of Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation to 3 years in a general regime colony, and his son – under Part 5 of Art. 33, part 3 art. 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation to 1.5 years of correctional labor with a deduction of 10% to the state income. In addition, they are prohibited from logging and will have to pay for the damage caused.
