Drones have invaded Finland's space. Two fell to the ground


Two drones fell near the city of Kouvola, located approximately 150 km from Helsinki and approximately 80 km from the border with Russia. The Ministry of Defense reported that the Finnish Air Force conducted a reconnaissance mission with the participation of the F/A-18 Hornet fighter. According to the findings so far, one UAV fell in the area north of Kouvola, and the other one east of this city.

Finland launches drone investigation

Police cars, military vehicles and ambulances were sent to the scene of the incident. The police confirmed that no one was injured as a result of this incident. Earlier, some media reported that the drones could have been Russian and were shot down. – We take this violation of territory very seriously and are investigating the matter – said the head of government in a Yle radio program.

The Finnish Armed Forces announced on Friday strengthening supervision and protection of the country's territorial integrity. These activities concern especially the south-eastern part of Finland and the area on the Gulf of Finland. This decision was related to Ukraine's intensified attacks on Russian oil ports in the St. Petersburg region in recent days.

Similar incidents in Lithuania and Latvia

As a result of Ukrainian attacks on Russian Ukrainian targets drones have also violated the airspace of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in recent days. According to Russian authorities, on the night from Saturday to Sunday, Ukraine again attacked the Russian port of Ust-Luga near the border with Estonia.
