Jannick Sinner (24 years old, 2 ATP) defeated Alexander Zverev (28 years old, 4 ATP), score 6-3, 7-6 (4), in the semifinals of the ATP tournament in Miami.
In the final of the men's tournament in Miami, the Italian will face the Czech Jiri Lehecka (22 years old), the match to be played on Sunday, from 20:30.
Jannick Sinner, 7th win in a row with Alexander Zverev
Already a classic of this era, the duel between Sinner and Zverev provided spectacular moments. After an hour and 54 minutes of play, the Italian prevailed again and reached his 7th consecutive victory over the German. Zverev hasn't beaten Sinner since 2023, at the US Open.
In Miami, the first set was without history. Sinner broke for 2-1, made no mistake on his own serve and eventually prevailed with a 3-game lead. He served for the set and closed it without emotion.
The fierce battle took place in the second act. Zverev made no more mistakes on serve and went head to head, without a break, until 6-6. In the tie-break, Sinner had stronger nerves, the German lost a serve and thus the history of the match was written.
Sinner goes ahead and extends his unbeaten streak against the German. The Italian hit 15 aces in the semi-final in Miami and had 28 winners, which he did better than Zverev, who had just 5 aces and 21 winners.
The German committed fewer unforced errors, 14 to 24, but it wasn't enough to beat Sinner.
