Ex-journalist for RBC and Vedomosti Oksana Goncharova was sentenced to 7 years in prison for the murder of her former partner with scissors when he attacked her in a fight.
At the trial, she did not admit guilt, calling her actions self-defense. The man had been beating the journalist since 2007, but the police did not accept complaints of beatings, the media clarified.
The murder took place in Elektrostal. That day, 36-year-old Alexey Samusev was drinking alcohol with a friend at home. By that time, the couple had separated, but lived next door. Their children, ages 10 and 3, were at home; the woman also has an adult son from her first marriage.
Goncharova did not deny that she drank with her ex and his friend, but asked the men to go home after the meeting. The friend began to get dressed, but her former roommate attacked her with his fists. During the conflict, the woman hit him with scissors several times, one of the blows was fatal. The man died in the hospital.
Samusev was convicted three times, the journalist’s eldest son Peter said that they lived peacefully only when the man left home: “From the age of 15, I began to protect my mother when he rushed at her – my strength already allowed it.”
The prosecutor's office requested eight years in prison for Goncharova, the jury that found her guilty considered that she deserved leniency. The defense reported that over the past 20 years, 7 criminal cases have been brought against the deceased, 3 of them for beating his wife.
