The Krasnoyarsk railway station became a stage for artists of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theater (video)

26 March 17:36

The first open spring concert of soloists of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theater named after Dmitry Hvorostovsky took place in the building of the Krasnoyarsk station. This is a musical gift for passengers and visitors dedicated to World Theater Day.

Leading singers of the only opera house in the Krasnoyarsk Territory – laureates and diploma winners of international competitions – performed on the stage set up in the spacious hall of the first floor.

They performed famous arias included in the golden fund of operatic art – “Rigoletto” by Giuseppe Verdi, “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, “Prince Igor” by Alexander Borodin, as well as favorite compositions of the Soviet stage.

The improvised auditorium accommodated about 400 listeners. Thanks to the unique acoustics of the building, whose ceiling height reaches 10 meters, music and voices acquired a particularly vibrant sound.

Let us note that the Krasnoyarsk Mainline maintains the traditions laid down in XIX century, when train stations were the centers of cultural life in Russian cities. Passenger railway complexes regularly become venues for music and art festivals, exhibitions and historical and educational projects in the region. Thus, since 2016, Krasnoyarsk Railways, together with the Krasnoyarsk Department of Culture, has been implementing the “Musical Journey through Railway Stations” project.
