“Attitude-wise and defensively, it worked out for us for the most part in the first half. We left a lot to be desired in the defensive phase.
Everything we tried to do this week, it didn't work out. It wasn't enough. We have to accept it, it hurts. Head down and to work!
During the construction phase, they shut down everything we worked on in training, to get out of defense, the fast attacking phases that we were doing. The offensive phase did not work out for us. At halftime, we talked about sticking to the result and scoring on the counterattack.
We didn't have many opportunities, but if we were more careful, we would have taken the match to extra time. It wasn't our night. We have to look better from summer onwards. The pain is too great to think about tomorrow“, commented Ianis hagi, who implied that Montella won the tactical duel with Lucescu.
“It's a huge frustration. They took advantage of our only carelessness. It was a 100% worked phase, the scorer came from the second line. I know people are tired of hearing the same thing from us. We fought from equal to them. They were better!”, said goalkeeper Ionuț Radu (28 years old), from Celta Vigo.
Romania's national football team will watch the World Cup on TV, after missing the fourth qualifying round at a final tournament. In Istanbul, on Thursday evening, Turkey defeated Romania 1-0, the victory being decided by the brilliant pass of Arda Guler, from Real Madrid, who set up Ferdi Kadioglu's goal in the 53rd minute.
