Revenge after a break-up: two men arrested after setting fire to a woman's caravan in Mizil
A man and a 16-year-old teenager from Teleorman county were detained by the police from Prahova, after they set fire to a caravan belonging to a woman from Mizil. Investigators say the gesture was one of revenge, after the woman broke up with her partner, a relative of the suspects.

The investigation began about a week ago, when the caravan located on a plot of land in Mizil was engulfed in flames, initially without a clear cause. Following the investigations, the police established that the fire was caused intentionally, the main suspects being a man and two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, from Teleorman.
“From the evidence administered in the case, it emerged that, on the night of March 17/18, 2026, against the background of an interpersonal conflict, the investigated persons would have moved within the radius of the city of Mizil, where they would have trespassed into the yard of a building, subsequently causing a fire by using flammable substances”the representatives of the Romanian Police sent.
To document the case, on March 26, the police conducted three home searches in Teleorman county, with the support of the Prahova Special Actions Service. Following the takedowns, several pieces of evidence deemed relevant to the investigation were recovered.
According to some judicial sources cited by News.ro, it all started with the breakup between a 70-year-old man from Videle and a 40-year-old woman from Prahova. The man's relatives would have decided to take revenge, setting her caravan on fire.
The man and the 16-year-old boy were detained for 24 hours and are to be presented to prosecutors, who will decide whether further preventive measures will be ordered in this case.
