The former Minister of Finance, Daniel Chițoiu remains in prison until the appeal is heard

Daniel Chițoiu, former Minister of Finance, will remain in prison for the time being, after the road accident in 2019 in which two husbands died.

Definitively sentenced in January to four years of detention and incarcerated in the Rahova Maximum Security Penitentiary, Chițoiu obtained the admissibility in principle of the cassation appeal against the manslaughter conviction.

The trial of the extraordinary appeal is scheduled for May. Until then, however, the supreme court refused to suspend the execution of the sentence, so the former minister will remain behind bars.
