Realitatea Plus, again with the broadcast suspended for three hours. When will the CNA sanction be enforced
The National Audiovisual Council decided to sanction Realitatea Plus with another suspension of the broadcast for three hours, after repeated violations of the law in 26 shows broadcast in December, writes Pagina de Media. It is the second time this year that the television station has been sanctioned with the suspension of the broadcast.
The television will be obliged to broadcast only the text of the sanction for three hours on April 1.
According to the monitoring reports analyzed by CNA, in several shows broadcast in December on the station, accusations were presented without evidence or there was a total lack of balance in the debates, with only one part being broadcast. There were attacks on President Nicusor Dan, USR, Ilie Bolojan, Diana Buzoianu (Minister of the Environment) or the Recorder, after the documentary about “Captured Justice”.
Deviations in 26 out of 28 analyzed broadcasts: “In these broadcasts it was discussed only from one perspective”
CNA had to analyze and watch fragments of 28 broadcasts in December, and in the case of two members decided that there were no violations and emphasized that the moderators really did their job.
“There were 28 shows in which they discussed what the Government is doing, about USR, what Ilie Bolojan is doing, regarding the Recorder. All the accusations brought in these shows were from a single point of view.
I have not seen even an attempt to contact those discussed. There was no alternative point of view, there was nothing. Quite simply, in these shows it was discussed only from one perspective, that of the sovereignists, so to speak. At one point they even discussed the fact that the sovereignists must somehow make order internally, that there cannot be two camps and listen to the word of Călin Georgescu, who is the strongest. That's the general vibe. There were several shows in which concrete accusations were made.
For example, in Daytime News, with Prime Time News, accusations were made against Nicuşor Dan, it was said that the company that financed him in the campaign was the one that brought water to the victims of Prahova and it was a kind of reward that the president offered to that company.
There was no evidence for this claim. The Recorder documentary was discussed from one point of view.
I noticed two shows where the moderators did their job. It is about Mrs. Cristina Răduţă, who intervened and stopped Mr. Marinescu who said “Better a healthy dictatorship than a sick democracy. (…)”, said Dorina Rusu, member of CNA, quoted by Pagina de Media.
And Valentin Jucan, the vice-president of CNA, said that it is about “a programmed and systemic violation of the law without any restraint”. “Simply the editorial behavior of this post is unchangeable. It almost gives me the feeling that it is a kind of declaration of continuity of breaking the law.”
The sanction of suspending the broadcast for three hours was proposed by Valentin Jucan and voted by eight of the 10 members present in Tuesday's meeting.
Reality TV also had its broadcast suspended in February.
