Group layoffs at Black Red White in Zamość. 161 people will lose their jobs

The authorities of Black Red White (BRW) decided to: termination of the production process in Zamość, and thus the dismissal of 161 people. The termination of the contracts is planned for the days between April 30 and June 30, Halina Bazan, head of the promotion and professional activation department of the Biłgoraj Labor Office, announced on Monday.
Tomasz Rudnicki from BRW confirmed that production currently carried out in Zamość – including the production of kitchen furniture – will be gradually transferred to plants in Biłgoraj and Mielec in the second quarterand some – to selected cooperators. Logistics and warehouse operations are to be maintained in Zamość.
“This action is a continuation of the production transformation program implemented from 2025.” – we read in the company's announcement.

Tomasz Rudnicki wrote that BRW is implementing a “plan to improve financial results” and “continues the program of operational restructuring and concentration of production in the most technologically effective locations“, and also “develops production in plants with higher technological efficiency.”
The BRW company previously informed about completion of the investment in the plant in Biłgorajwhere the launch of an automated technological line translated into increased production capacity and efficiency.
The company argues that despite improvement in retail sales in the “furniture and interior furnishings” category in the fourth quarter of 2025, the Polish furniture sector remains under “strong cost and demand pressure”which is related to the increase in the costs of energy, fuel, transport, wages, local taxes, infrastructure maintenance costs and a decline in orders on Western European markets.

BRW improves financial liquidity and develops domestic and export saleshas full ownership and bank financing and is implementing a program to increase EBITDA by PLN 100 million by the end of 2026 – said Tomasz Rudnicki.
“The process of operational changes is demanding, but necessary to maintain the company's stability in the long term. We concentrate production where we can best use modern technologies and effectively manage costs. Our priority remains the safety of the entire group, customers, partners and employees” – commented the company's president, Dariusz Formela.

Layoffs at BRW. Crisis on the furniture market
In January 2025 BRW announced its intention to dismiss 220 employees of the factory in Przeworsk (Podkarpackie Voivodeship). The plant ceased production operations in the first quarter of 2025. In November, BRW reported about 800 employees in all company locations for group layoffs, including: in Biłgoraj, Zamość, Warsaw, Łódź and Poznań.
Group layoffs started in November and are scheduled to end in December 2026. According to PUP data, the employer planned the largest number of departures between November 2025 and March 2026. By the end of February, the company informed the office about the dismissal of a total of 116 people.
The management report on the company's activities in 2024 shows that total sales revenues amounted to nearly PLN 1.2 billion, i.e. more than 11%. less than a year earlier. Net loss in 2023-2024 increased from PLN 90 million to PLN 137 million.

The company's management argued in the report that the decline in sales concerned mainly the domestic market. He explained the situation economic uncertainty, high inflation, high interest rates and increased costs of servicing financial liabilitieswhich, in the opinion of the management board, resulted in consumers' decisions to postpone purchasing decisions.
The company reported that in 2024 the costs of external services increased by 6%, taxes and fees – also by 6%. employee costs decreased by 4% and employment decreased by over 13%.. Average employment decreased from 4,013 people in 2023 to 3,489 people in 2024.
