Aoun condemned Israel's “attacks and destruction of key infrastructure and facilities in southern Lebanon, especially the Qassmiyah Bridge on the Litani River and other bridges,” the president's office said in a statement.
“These attacks constitute a dangerous escalation and a sharp violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and we consider them a prelude to a ground invasion,” Aoun said after Israel reported that his army had been ordered to destroy “all bridges” that it believed were being used by the pro-Iranian organization Hezbollah.

The president expressed his belief that attacking the Litani bridge, which is the most important connection between the southern part of Lebanon and the rest of the country, raises suspicions that Israel intends to create a buffer zone.
Over the past 10 days, Israeli troops have already destroyed three bridges in southern Lebanon.
More than a thousand people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory, including nearly 120 children, 80 women and 40 medical staff, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
