The eighteenth gopher was installed near the Krasnoyarsk university

A new gopher was installed in Krasnoyarsk – this time at the entrance to the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals of the Siberian Federal University. The figurine depicts a rodent with a pickle in his hands and wearing a mining engineer's helmet.
The idea belongs to three graduates. They decided that the symbol of the mining profession would be appropriate here – in a region with a developed mining industry. The gopher was named Gosha; the students deciphered the name as “Go” from mining and “Sha” from mine design.
Let us remind you that a total of 18 gophers have been identified in Krasnoyarsk. They can be found near attractions and iconic city locations. Local businesses also joined the project. The author of the sculptures, Andrei Koshelev, noted that the new figurine continues the tradition of popularizing professions.
Director of the institute Vladimir Baranov added that such initiatives strengthen the continuity of education and unite everyone who is interested in mining. At the opening, a new tradition was already born – rubbing the gopher's nose for good luck before exams. Students and applicants will be able to check whether it works this year.
