It all started with a deep pass received by Vinicius. The Brazilian started from the offside limit, advanced towards the box, made his shot and fired straight into the far corner. It hit Donnarumma's crossbar, but Real Madrid were lucky.
The ball stayed with “los blancos” and reached Vinicius again. The Brazilian volleyed a left-footed volley into the short corner. On the goal line, Bernardo stepped in and blocked. The Portuguese kept his hands behind his back, but his elbow, the side he hit the ball with, was away from his body.
Initially it was analyzed whether Vinicius was offside in the opening phase. Brazil were in regulation position and Turpin was called to the monitor to review whether Silva had committed a foul. He decided that the midfielder intervened irregularly and showed him the red card and gave a penalty for Madrid.
Vinicius made up for the miss in the tour and scored from 11 meters, in the 22nd minute. In the first leg, at the Bernabeu, Real prevailed 3-0.
