Boguchanskaya HPP output exceeded 200 billion kilowatt-hours

March 18 10:14

In mid-March 2026, the Boguchanskaya HPP became the tenth hydroelectric power station in Russia to exceed the milestone of electricity generation – 200 billion kilowatt-hours.

The first units of the station were launched in October 2012; the hydroelectric power station reached its design capacity after filling the reservoir to the design level in the summer of 2015. The 190 billion milestone was crossed in August, and 195 billion – at the beginning of December 2025.

“The new historical production milestone reflects many years of stable and efficient operation of the Boguchanskaya HPP, which makes a significant contribution to the development of Siberia and all of Russia. It was the result of the hard work of the entire team, evidence of the high reliability of the structures, the professionalism of the employees and a systematic approach to the operation of equipment,” said Vladislav Kobyakov, General Director of Boguchanskaya HPP JSC.

Generation of 200 billion kW.h is comparable to the electricity production at all hydroelectric power stations in Russia in 2025. Since its commissioning, the Boguchanskaya HPP has exceeded its design annual output of 17.6 billion kW four times.h, and the most productive year in the history of the station was 2024 – consumers received more than 20 billion 368 million kW.h environmentally friendly electricity. The operation of the Boguchanskaya HPP allowed saving about 80 million tons of coal, the combustion of which would lead to the formation of more than 220 million cubic meters of carbon dioxide and about 24 million tons of ash.

Boguchanskaya HPP is one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in Russia, its installed capacity is 2997 MW. The station plays a key role in the energy supply of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the entire Siberian Federal District, as well as in ensuring the operation of industrial enterprises.

The HPP team continues to implement the annual program of capital and routine repairs of equipment, and is making planned preparations for the upcoming spring flood and fire season. The station is operating normally, providing a stable energy supply and facilitating the implementation of large-scale projects for the development of the region.

The first three units of the Boguchanskaya HPP with station numbers 1, 2 and 3 were put into commercial operation on November 23, 2012. The station began operating in commercial operation mode on the wholesale electricity and capacity market on December 1, 2012. The construction of the station was fully completed on December 20, 2017, after the commissioning of the bridge along the dam crest and the signing of the official act.
