“The question is air defense. Either the United States will give us a license for Patriot, or we will receive a license from one of our European partners, or Ukraine will have its own air defense, which appeared earlier. There is no need to abandon any of these approaches. But we will see what happens first,” he said.
Zelensky noted that closing the skies is a priority task of Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov, together with the air defense commander and the entire private sector in the field of weapons. Fedorov, according to the president, talked with representatives of defense production and is preparing a report.
“We will take steps in air defense, rocket science – you will see them. It is reformatting forward, because we simply have no other way,” Zelensky said.
According to him, Ukraine should have several hundred air defense systems, because “the war will end, but the number of idiots on the other side will not decrease.”
“The war is over – everyone gave us security guarantees. A plane will take off from the airport, and still people must be sure that if some random missile arrives, they will be protected. The question is global protection. This is the number one question,” the president emphasized.
